With around 4 million vehicles traveling in and out of London daily, a figure projected to grow as the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) accelerates under the UK government’s zero-emission vehicle mandate, towns like Epsom are vital for commuters.
It’s no surprise that forward-thinking business owners, such as Johnny Srikrishna, are seizing opportunities to cater to this growing EV market. The number of EVs on UK roads is expected to reach 8–11 million by 2030, and Johnny is keen to position his business at the forefront of this transition.
“Given London’s population, there will be more EV drivers around here than anywhere else in the country,” Johnny told Forward EV.
While there were already local EV charging stations, Johnny was drawn to Forward EV’s unique no-lease, no-contract option, which allowed him to set his own pricing and keep all the profit. He noted that other companies had approached him in the past but often failed to deliver on their promises.
“They would reach out and didn’t really follow through on what they said. Forward EV wasn’t like that,” Johnny explained.
He praised the professionalism and friendliness of Forward EV’s Director, Andrew Oakes, and appreciated the straightforward approach Andrew brought to the table.
“Andrew had a lot of good ideas we hadn’t considered, like using the existing power supply rather than upgrading,” Johnny shared.
The installation process was also seamless. “It was smooth—everything happened as it should have,” he added.
Johnny’s first Forward EV charger is now operational on Kingston Road along the A240, but he’s far from done. As the owner of several petrol stations nationwide, Johnny plans to roll out chargers across multiple sites. He’s also exploring the idea of integrating advertising on the chargers to promote in-store offers and seasonal deals, such as special Christmas and summer promotions.
At his Epsom site, Johnny anticipates an average of three charges per day and is optimistic about expanding to his other locations if the numbers align with expectations.
“We need to be able to offer something different,” he said confidently.
With this in mind, Forward EV is excited about a long partnership with Johnny.
