Garden centres are more than just places to pick up a few plants—they’re vibrant, welcoming hubs for all things green and growing. From small, family-owned businesses tucked in picturesque villages to sprawling centres with everything from plants and pots to cozy cafés and pet supplies.
Whether you’re a seasoned gardener looking for rare perennials or a novice eager to start a windowsill herb garden, garden centres provide expert advice, inspiration, and all the essentials to bring your outdoor space to life.
Homeleigh Crediton is a prime example of a garden centre that truly has something for everyone. Located in Devon, it’s a destination for more than just gardening supplies, offering a variety of departments, including a stylish homes and gifts section, a pet care area, outdoor living essentials, and, of course, everything you need for plants, gardening, and landscaping.
With convenient home delivery options, ample free parking and a restaurant serving a range of delicious meals, Homeleigh Crediton is a welcoming spot for all. And if all of that doesn’t pique your interest – they are even dog friendly.
Recently, Managing Director Rob Broad had been exploring ways to make the centre more customer focused along with becoming eco-friendly and sustainable. This led him to consider adding EV charging to the site, both as an attraction for new visitors and a valuable service for regulars.
“We wanted to offer something new for our existing customers, but also find ways to reduce our carbon footprint,” Rob explained.
Rob spoke to Andrew Oakes, Managing Director at Forward EV, who Rob described as ‘very approachable’ and who offered a simple, contract-free option that would allow Homeleigh Crediton complete control over the chargers.
‘The installation was seamless and Andrew explained everything really well’ Rob confirmed.
Now, with their Forward EV charger in place for a month, Rob and the team have already received excellent feedback.
“Customers are using the charger and say it’s easy to use—exactly what we hoped for,” Rob shared with Forward EV.
As for the future of Homeleigh Crediton and their other 2 sites, Rob says that if the success of the charger continues, he’ll consider adding more.
‘So far, so good. If the chargers continue to be used, we will certainly be looking into future installs’
