Caenby Corner Garage is situated on a busy rural roundabout in Lincolnshire, where the A15 links Lincoln and Scunthorpe, and the A631 connects Gainsborough and Market Rasen. As a vital route in the region, it experiences heavy daily traffic. This BP forecourt and Londis convenience store, managed by Roxanna, Kerryanne, and their team, welcomes between 1,000 and 1,500 vehicles each day, with visitor numbers varying seasonally.
Recognizing the rapid growth in electric vehicles (EVs)—a trend set to accelerate as the UK government phases out the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2030—Caenby Corner’s management duo, Roxanna and Kerryanne decided it was time to invest in EV charging points. They understood the importance of staying ahead of competitors by catering to the evolving needs of their customers.
“We knew we wanted to invest in EV, but we’d previously been told it wasn’t possible to have charging points here,” Roxanna and Kerryanne explained to Forward EV. That’s when Forward EV offered a fresh perspective and a solution that fit perfectly.
“Karen, the marketing assistant from Forward EV, called us one day to explain more about their approach. She and Ian Whitby Smith offered to visit and walk us through the process, showing us how the system worked and the potential revenue we could generate,” they shared.
Once the Forward EV team arrived on-site, everything fell into place. “They explained it all in a straightforward way—no jargon, no overcomplications, no hard sell. Just clear facts about how it worked and how we’d benefit. Karen and Ian were fully transparent in explaining to us how it would work for us.”
Roxanna and Kerryanne particularly valued the approachable and straightforward nature of the Forward EV team. “It wasn’t complicated, and we liked that. We never felt like any question was too much or too silly. That level of support made a big difference,” they shared.
By partnering with Forward EV, this entrepreneurial duo ensured that Caenby Corner could cater to the growing number of EV drivers while maintaining a competitive edge in an evolving market.
The installation day went off without a hitch. “Everyone arrived on time, worked cleanly and tidily, and, despite the terrible weather that day, Forward EV’s team made everything run smoothly,” they explained.
Since the installation, the response has been overwhelmingly positive. “Customers seem very pleased; the charger is easy to use, and the app has been a hit with drivers, statements are sent monthly so we can see how well the charger is preforming and we are all pleasantly surprised in the amount of EV’s that are using us”, they confirmed.
Looking ahead, Roxanna and Kerryanne are confident about expanding their EV charging offering. “We’re already seeing the demand and would definitely consider investing in a second Forward EV charger,” they said. “One of the best things about Forward EV is that we don’t have to run the charger off the grid—it’s incredibly accessible. If it weren’t for Forward EV, we wouldn’t have even known this was possible!”
Forward EV looks forward to hearing about the ongoing success of Caenby Corner and an ongoing relationship with the team.
